The Community Orchard was established by a small group of volunteers starting in 2012.
It is planted on Parish Council land as part of the Recreation Ground.
The initial plan was for heritage apple varieties each sponsored by an individual, family or organisation. These trees are in the north west corner of the ground. From 2016, most planting was of heritage cider varieties along the western boundary of the ground. The volunteers continue to maintain the trees with annual pruning. Planting has stopped as there is no more space. Surplus funds from sponsorship have allowed the purchase of apple juicing and pressing equipment and an apple day is held every year for the pressing of orchard apples and those from village gardens.
