I then worked for BT Defence for 8 years but am now fully retired. Richard Goodman – Vice-Chairman of the council

I moved to Wiltshire with my job in 2005, took a chance on Holt, and haven’t looked back since. I have never lived in village with such depth, and an inclusive attitude. I qualified as a Chartered Accountant in the 1970s, and have spent over 40 years in various financial roles, before largely retiring in 2012. Against this background, I guess its no surprise that I have taken on the role as Chair of the Finance Committee.

I have always had a strong family connection with Holt and moved here in 1982. My working background was in Heritage Services, working for Bath and North East Somerset and Wiltshire councils. I am Secretary of Holt F.C. and am keen to protect and improve facilities within the village for the benefit of everybody. The community and the rural environment are important to me and joining the Parish Council means I can contribute in a positive way.

John Fletcher

I moved to West Wiltshire in 1988 and have lived in the village for the last 20 years. I was born in Glossop Derbyshire and spent my formative years in Bakewell Derbyshire. I am a proud Derbyshire lad. I have spent the last 40 years working in the landscaping industry for both local and national companies. I am now retired.

I am very keen to ensure that we retain the rural environment around Holt and to ensure that we prevent as much as we are able the threat of housing expansion to the detriment of our way of life. I am also concerned about traffic issues and to ensure that we have a voice to challenge decisions made by other authorities which impact on our village

Alan Hendon

I am a retired chartered surveyor and have lived in Holt with my partner for 20 years. My daughter also lives in Holt and our grandchildren attend Holt Primary School.

I believe people should be given a say in the management of their community and having been given that say it should be used. I hope my professional and life experience will be of benefit to the council. I have been a councillor since 2018.

I moved to Holt from London in 2011. I have three children and my youngest was really fortunate in attending the Pre-School and Holt Primary School. I qualified as a solicitor in the 1990s and worked in commercial litigation for many years. I now work part-time for a charity. Since moving to Holt I really appreciate the community spirit of the village, the scenery and wildlife that surrounds us. I wanted to join the Council to contribute to the village and maintaining the community we value so much.
